Sundance Kennels, an esteemed Boarding Kennel with full grooming and bathing services, has been serving the Lower Bucks and Philadelphia counties for the past 50 years.

Paul & Jean Edwards

The current owners, Paul & Jean Edwards, have been in the industry for most of their lives. Paul started working in kennels as a teenager. He later went on to apprentice with the top Poodle professional in the dog show industry. He bought his own kennel after and worked as a professional dog handler for a long successful career. This background gave him expertise in all areas of dog husbandry. Jean had her own success as a breeder and exhibitor of top Scottish Terriers. After their marriage they bought this kennel from the original owner in 1991. They made renovations and renamed the facility Sundance Kennels. Their years of experience caring for dogs created the standards that are used in the kennel today.

In 2002, Jean’s daughter Kathleen Ferris joined the business as the facility Manager and more recently was made a part owner. She brings another 50 years’ experience in the industry, having owned and operated her own professional show kennel as well as a successful career as a top professional handler. Years of caring and maintaining dogs for owners allows her to bring those skills to the business. Over 20 years later she has helped shape and maintain the quality service the kennel provides to our guests today.

All three owners live on property as it is their home as well as their business.

Julie Sanders

Julie Sanders is our award-winning groomer. She joined the team in 2013 as a kennel assistant. She showed interest in assisting with bathing and was assigned to work with the groomer. She was natural at it. She apprenticed and took additional seminars, classes and eventually was given the job of groomer when the prior groomer retired over 5 years ago. She is very talented and has great patience and skill with her clients. She continues to hone her craft to this day.

In addition, kennel staff are fully trained so that they can provide your pet with the highest possible quality care. Careful screening is done to make sure all kennel assistants are suitable to work with the dogs. They are taught to identify any issues that may arise and notify management immediately. New staff apprentice with more experienced staff for a period of 4 weeks minimum to make sure they are well versed in the kennel procedures and care of the guests.
